During the the second 450SX heat race of the night at the 2018 Tampa SX, Cole Seely crashed hard through a long rhythm section. The #14’s crash would bring out the red flag while the Alpinestars Medic Crew took care of him. Cole was not able to get to his feet unassisted and we now know why.

Statement from Team HRC: “After being evaluated at the local hospital, it has been confirmed that Cole Seely suffered a fracture to his pelvis and tailbone. He will undergo surgery tonight and more details will be released as they become available.”

We hope Cole’s surgery goes well and we should all keep him in our thoughts tonight. Pelvis and tailbone fractures are two of the most painful breaks, so I cannot imagine what it feels like to break both. We will bring you an update on how Cole’s surgery went as soon as we get word. In the mean time, this is also a tough blow to the Team HRC / Honda squad who is already down a rider with Ken Roczen sidelined earlier in the year. I’m sure they will be scrambling this week to figure out what they are going to do.

*Latest update on Cole’s condition from his brother, Chance Seely.
