While everyone else seems to get worse with age, Red Bull / KTM’s Antonio Cairoli is aging like a fine wine. The nine-time MX2/MXGP World Champion and defending the MXGP World Champion showed at the 2018 MXGP Argentina season opener that if you want to win the MXGP World Championship, you will still have to go through the #222.

In Argentina, Cairoli qualified on pole on Saturday and held off his charging KTM teammate Jeffrey Herlings for the first moto win. In moto 2, Antonio once again went right to the front and looked to have the 1-1 sweep on lock, but Herlings hunted him down and passed him on the final lap of the day.

Fortunately for us, we have Geoff Meyer covering the World Championship series for us once again in 2018 and he was able to chat with Antonio after the racing was over. Click play to hear what the Champ had to say about a bittersweet opening round.
