While battling for the win in 450 heat 2, Eli Tomac got a little inpatient and went in for the kill on Cooper Webb and took them both down. Webb remounted to finish 4th, while Tomac qualified for the main with a 6th.
Eli Tomac said later in the post race press conference: “There was some cross jumping going on coming across that rhythm lane. I got pissed off and went for the take out. That’s all it was, plain and simple.” Y.
Cooper Webb said, “I was definitely racing hard. I did come over a few times. I knew he was mad, heard him come in and it’s a bummer that we both went down. That’s never good. He told me, “welcome to the 450 class.” I said, “thanks, I’m here.” (laughs.
