If they gave out an award from “the biggest turnaround by a team” in Monster Energy Supercross, the Smartop / Motoconcepts / Honda team would be a shoo-in for the award in 2018. From the management staff of Mike Genova (owner) and Tony Alessi (team manager) to their top two riders, Justin Brayton and Vince Friese, all of them have had great personal years and have completely changed the way the industry and fans look at the team as a whole.
It seems like every weekend they are battling near the front and in Salt Lake City both Justin and Vince finished inside the top ten. For Justin, he struggled most of the day with the track but still crossed the line in 6th, with Vince finishing a seasons-best 9th.
