Anaheim, CA (January 19, 2019) – Even under a totally different format, the end result remained the same for GEICO Honda’s RJ Hampshire, who has now begun the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross campaign with three-straight fourth-place finishes. Hampshire is pleased with his riding but struggling with his starts, so Anaheim’s Triple Crown format, with three 10-minute and one-lap races, provided less time to come through traffic. RJ ended the night with 5-4-5 scores. His teammate Cameron McAdoo was just behind him, logging the best overall supercross night of his young career with 9-5-6 scores, and sixth overall.

“Felt good all day,” said Hampshire. “My speed was better this weekend, just my starts were terrible! It’s hard to be bummed about another fourth because of how bad my start was but I was so close to a podium. That’s the goal every weekend and we’ve been just off. I’m really happy with how I feel on my bike right now and excited to see the progression each week!”

McAdoo’s sixth is a career best. As it turned out, Hampshire passed him on the last lap of the final race, and that bumped McAdoo’s overall score from fifth to sixth overall. However, he feels the top-five finish is easily within sight after a confidence-boosting night.

“Anaheim 2 was a big step forward for us!” said McAdoo. “The track was really technical which made for good racing, and I felt comfortable. I think it’s coming together now. I ended up 9-5-6 for sixth overall, but I’m a little bummed I let fifth slip away with two turns to go in the final main. The whole night was good, but I should have kept racing forward there on the last few laps. Still, I was happy with my riding and felt like I belonged up front all night! Can’t wait to get to Oakland.”

Hampshire now sits fifth in the season 250SX West Region standings, with McAdoo eighth. Round four in Oakland, California takes place this Saturday, January 26th.
