Round 2 – Sprint Hero Racing Series – February 17, 2019

PEORIA, Ariz. – Round 2 of the 2019 Sprint Hero Racing Series took place over the weekend at Canyon MX in Peoria, Arizona and FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Taylor Robert swept both days of racing to claim his second-straight overall victory in the series.

The sprint format incorporated both enduro and moto tests on a course with near-perfect conditions for both days of racing. Heavy rain on Thursday soaked the course enough to keep it moist all weekend, creating no dust at all.

On Saturday, Robert won three of the day’s six tests, while Zach Bell claimed the other three test-wins for the day. Despite the split in race wins, Robert still came away with a ten-second lead after day one.

On Sunday, Robert won five of the six tests, where he also finished runner-up in Cross Test 3. The current points leader was able to stretch his lead to nearly 50 seconds by end of day two as he stood atop the center of the podium for the second-consecutive round.

Robert: “It was prime conditions since it rained all day on Thursday and the track crew did a great job laying out a fun moto test and a really technical enduro test. I was able to win eight of 12 tests for the weekend, but Zach Bell kept me honest in every single test and we had some very close test times.”

FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis rider Dante Oliveira had a great weekend, capturing a top-five overall finish in the Pro class. Additionally, his teammate, Cooper Abbott, claimed victory in the Open A class with a valiant effort on Sunday.
