After a two year stint to start his professional career with Star Racing / Yamaha and a one year deal with Rockstar / Husqvarna in ’18, Mitchell Harrison was forced to go the privateer route with the Rockwell Watches / Yamaha in 2019. He has struggled during the 2019 Western Regional 250SX SX Championship, but at the Seattle SX he finally had a solid finish with a 7th.

We were thinking the #35 might finally be getting some momentum on the privateer Yamaha, but then he was absent last weekend in Houston and we were not sure why. Well, it was just announced that Mitchell is overseas after signing a deal with the French Bud Racing / Kawasaki team to contest the MX2 World Championship series starting next weekend at the MXGP of Trentino in Italy.

Bud Racing said, “Welcome to our new rider Mitchell Harrison who will do his first MX2 season race this weekend in Italy together with the come back of his teammate Brian Moreau. Happy to have you in the team.”

Mitchell has struggled in SX to find the podium, but he has been on the podium at RedBud (2017) and Unadilla (2018) in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship here in the US. It will likely take Mitchell a little time to get acclimated to the MXGP way of racing, but he will no doubt get it figured out. We wish Mitchell luck on his European work vacation and look forward to having an American to root for in the series.
