Donn Maeda did this interview with Ryan Villopoto on April 1st—better known as April Fools Day—and RV announced that he would be filling in for Aaron Plessinger for the first few nationals on the factory Yamaha 450. Real or April fools?

This from Donn Maeda:

Ryan Villopoto invited us to join him at his personal race shop for an important announcement last week, so we packed up part of our Swapmoto Live Show set and sat down for a great conversation and some shocking news. Though he’s been retired from professional racing for several years now, the seven-time AMA Supercross and Motocross champion has been recruited by Monster Energy Yamaha to fill in for the injured Aaron Plessinger for the first two or three rounds of this summer’s 450 MX Nationals. Though it would be easy for Villopoto to set more realistic goals, he is already training hard with his sights set on the podium. Do you think he can do it?
