Round 3 – Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series – April 7, 2019 |
GREENVILLE, Tenn. – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Josh Toth earned his first-career overall victory at Round 3 of the 2019 Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series at I-81 Motorsports Park in Greenville, Tennessee. Toth bested his teammate, Kailub Russell, who finished a close second giving KTM a 1-2 sweep in the overall classification.
Toth had a consistent start to the weekend with 1-2 finishes throughout Saturday, where he capped the day off with two test-wins to secure the overall on day one. On day two, Toth maintained a steady pace with a third overall on the day after claiming two additional test-wins and a handful of podium finishes. With a combined score for both days, Toth was able to top Russell by 23 seconds in the overall running.
Toth: “The weekend went really well for me. I really enjoyed the technical enduro test and felt comfortable on the cross test as well. I really feel strong on the bike and I’m happy with my improvements, particularly on the grass track. Overall, it was a great weekend and I’m beyond stoked to get my first Sprint Enduro overall!”
Russell had a great start to the weekend, claiming the opening test-win on Saturday. However, in test two Russell ran off the track and got tangled up in a barbed wire fence, thus losing substantial time and dropping back to sixth. He rallied back to finish the day with two runner-up finishes and two more test wins to claim third overall on day one. On day two, Russell maintained a top-three running in all six texts, claiming three test-wins along the way to lock in first overall on Sunday and second overall for the weekend.
Russell: “Day one was a bit tough for me as I made a mistake and went off-track, which resulted in me getting tangled up in a barbed wired fence and I lost a lot of time. Day two went much better and I was able to climb my way back to second overall for the weekend and actually extend my points lead with the way the results worked out.”
