The 2019 450SX Monster Energy Supercross “Rookie of the Year”, Monster Energy / Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy, will miss the beginning of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship due to some nagging injuries. “Unfortunately, I won’t be lining up for the start of the outdoor series,” Joey said from Instagram. “Between my nagging shoulder injury and my leg issue from Vegas, the goal right now honestly is Colorado at best. I’m bummed, haven’t missed a start of the mx series since 2014.. but I want to get healthy and come back 100%.. sorry to let the fans down but I’m doing my best to return ASAP.”

We were looking forward to seeing Joey racing the 450 outdoors for the first time at Hangtown, but we are glad he has chosen to take care of his injuries and come back when he is 100% fit and ready. The rook has already shown his worth in SX on the 450, and we have a feeling he will be even better outdoors. Unfortunately, that will have to wait, though.
