TOP-FIVE FINISHES FOR THE ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING TEAM AT THE WASHOUGAL NATIONAL
; ANDERSON ROUNDS OUT TOP-FIVE IN 450MX
It was a solid day for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team, who captured a pair of top-five finishes on Saturday for Round 9 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Washington. Team rider Michael Mosiman secured a podium finish in Moto 2 of the 250MX class to ultimately secure fourth overall for the day, while his teammate, Jason Anderson, scored a top-five overall in the premier 450MX class.

Anderson, the fifth-place qualifier, grabbed a top-five position off the start in Moto 1 and he eventually worked his way up to the battle for third. He diced back-and-forth for the final podium position late in the race, coming into the final two laps within striking distance. He capitalized on the mistake of another rider to move into third but a crash on the final lap ultimately gave him fourth. In Moto 2, he began just inside the top-10 and quickly worked his way into fifth. He climbed up to fourth just before the halfway point and battled his way to a fifth-place finish. However, he was docked two positions for an infraction on the course and consequently, finished fifth overall for the day.

“My day went pretty decent,” Anderson said. “In the first moto, I got up to third and then I fell and ended up fourth. In the second moto, I got up to fourth and tried to make a charge and ended up getting passed for fifth. I went 4-5 for the day but I got docked two positions, so I ended up fifth overall, which isn’t too bad.”

Osborne got off to a third-place start in Moto 1 but he got shuffled back to eighth on the opening lap. He jumped up to seventh on lap two and raced just behind the top-five battle for a majority of the race. He ran into some issues late in the race that ultimately dropped him back to ninth. In Moto 2, Osborne put himself into the mix right away with a third-place start and he battled inside the top-five for most of the race. With four laps to go, he upped the pace to bring himself to a fourth-place finish. With 9-4 finishes, Osborne secured sixth overall for the day.

“It was just a really ‘off’ day until the second moto, where I was able to turn things around,” Osborne said. “I think I’ve just been a little bit off the normal regimen with my shoulder but going into an off-weekend, I feel like I can make a lot of improvement with it and keep moving forward.”

In Moto 1, Dean Wilson got off to a solid start as he rounded the opening lap in sixth place. He got shuffled around early on and eventually settled into eighth, where he fought hard to maintain his position. With four laps to go, Wilson was able to notch one more position to ultimately finish seventh. In Moto 2, he got off to another great start, rounding the opening lap in fifth. He dropped back to eighth early on and battled his way to a top-10 finish in the second moto, ultimately finishing ninth overall for the day.

“Today was definitely an improvement but I’m still trying to catch up on my fitness,” Wilson said.“The second moto, I had a really good start and those guys passed me but to be honest I was really struggling with cramping in my legs. It’s a little disappointing as a 7-8 was looking doable but we’ll just keep working at it.”

Mosiman didn’t get off to the greatest start in Moto 1 as he rounded the opening lap in 15th place. He immediately put his head down and charged his way inside the top-10 by lap four and from there he continued to push, eventually making his way up to seventh. In Moto 2, Mosiman got a great jump off the line and put himself into third place early on. He maintained a solid pace for all 16 laps, claiming a podium finish in the moto and fourth overall for the day.

“It’s good to be here, I’m really fond of this track and this area,” Mosiman said. “And I think this track suits my style – I’m really able to get into a flow. I’m stoked to get on the podium. I love the fans up here!”

Jordan Bailey began just outside the top-20 in Moto 1 and he worked his way up to finish 15th. In Moto 2, he started in 14th and battled around the 15th position for a majority of the race. With 15-16 moto finishes, Bailey ultimately finished 15th overall for the day.

“It was definitely a tough day, but we’ll take this off-weekend and get ready for Unadilla,” Bailey said.
