Joey Savatgy cannot catch a break of late. After having a super rough debut night on his new JGR / Suzuki two weeks ago at the Auckland SX, the #17 was probably hoping to find some momentum this weekend at the AUS-X Open in Melbourne, Australia. Unfortunately, after setting the 5th fastest lap in the first SX1 qualifying session earlier today at the AUS-X Open, Joey went down hard and suffered a major injury to his lower leg. Jason Weigandt from Racer X—who is one of the televison broadcaster for the race—said he suffered a broken heel and possibly other damage.

We wish the best for Joey and are hoping it is not as bad as we are hearing it looked when it happened. We will bring you more news when we hear anything.
