Back in June of this year, GEICO / Honda’s Christian Craig sent out a post over Instagram stating that he received an email from the FIM saying that an adverse finding was discovered in his WADA drug test from the Daytona SX on March 10, 2018. The drug in question was trace amounts of Heptaminol. The FIM / WADA punishment handed down was a two-year suspension that would be backdated and start in March of 2018—the date of his original dirty test—and would end in March of 2020.
Today, though, Christian sent out a new Instagram post that he succeeded in the Court of Arbitration in Switzerland and that his ban would officially be lifted on December 31st, 2019. This makes him eligible to line up for Anaheim 1 if he chooses to. “LETS GO RACING,” Craig said from Instagram “I could not be happier to announce I was able to accomplish what I had hoped at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland. My suspension will now be lifted on December 31st, which is a win I can’t even describe. Pretty speechless and incredibly grateful for the people around me, the industry and my fans for keeping my spirits up this year- it truly has been the roughest year on me and I’m just so happy it’s finally over. I knew if I threw in the towel like they hoped I would, I could not feel at peace knowing what could have been. This was the final chance and it was so worth it. Thank you all so much, this feeling is surreal.”
Congratulations to Christian and Paige Craig on their victory and we look forward to seeing Christian at the races real soon. Check out Christian and Paige’s Instagram posts below.
