I’m not sure what is going on today with the 250SX Regional Championship contenders, but three of them have put themselves on the ground and into some tough positions so far today. Earlier in practice today, Shane McElrath went down hard in a practice start and that was followed by Chase Sexton making an ill-advised pass attempt in the 250SX East heat race and landing on Colt Nichols—putting them both on the ground—and Dylan Ferrandis going down hard in the 250SX West heat race.

Sexton was able to get back on the bike and qualify for the main in the heat trace, and Ferrandis was forced to race the LCQ, which he won and transferred to the main where he will have a horrible gate pick. For Nichols, he qualified, but his day is over due to a hand or wrist injury sustained in the crash with Sexton. You can watch video from all three of the championship contenders’ crashes below.
