During the final 250SX East/West Shootout main event of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross series in Salt Lake City, Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner went over the bars and hit the ground hard. At the time, Austin was running 2nd and the man he trailed by just six points in the title chase, Dylan Ferrandis, was buried down in 9th, but the crash immediately ended Austin’s title hopes. Today we heard from the team and it looks like the crash will also likely take Austin out of contention for the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250MX Championship as well.

“During the incident at the final round of Supercross, Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner suffered multiple abdominal injuries that will sideline him for the next 6-8 weeks,” the team announced today on social media.

This is another big loss for the Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki squad who has already lost Jordon Smith and Garrett Marchbanks to injuries. As of today, the team is down to just Cameron McAdoo heading into outdoors and they will likely be shopping for at least one—or maybe two—fill-in riders to put under their tent for outdoors. We will update you more when we get an official word from the team.
