The Joe Giggs Racing Team team branched off from their four-wheel efforts and arrived on the Professional AMA Motocross and Supercross scene back in 2008 with Charles Summey and Josh Hansen riding their bikes at Anaheim 1. They went on to compete at the highest levels with riders like Justin Barcia, Davi Millsaps, Josh Grant, Chad Reed, Weston Peick, Justin Brayton, Alex Martin, Jimmy Decotis, Justin Bogle, James Stewart and many more during a 13-year period, but today we are sad to report that they officially announced that they are shutting down the MX and SX side of the Joe Giggs Racing Team.

“The JGRMX family would like to thank all of our fans, riders and sponsors for 13 great years,” a team representative said from Instagram. With the GEICO / Honda team closing their doors at the end of the 2020 racing season, JGR is now the second factory-backed rig leaving the pits for good. With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging on and the wide-spread distribution of a possible vaccine still some time away, it may get worse before it gets better for some in the sport.

MotoXAddicts would like to say thank you to Joe Giggs, Coy Gibbs, Jeremy Albrecht—team manager for all 13 years—and the whole JGR family for bringing their racing passion to MX and SX and employing dozens of people over their 13 years in the sport and while it is not likely, we do hope to see them back at some point in the future. Check out JGR’s tribute to their 13 years in the sport watching the video below.
