During the first 250SX qualifying session at today’s Houston 3 SX—round 3 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series—Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki’s top 250SX East title contender, Austin Forkner, went down hard and ended yet another shot at winning a title.

After starting the year with a 2-6 scorecard, Austin was sitting fourth in the Championship points, but for the fourth-straight year, he will be recovering from an injury in SX wondering, “what if?” It was just reported that Austin will sit out tonight’s race, but no specifics on his injury yet. “Bummed,” the Monster Energy Pro Circuit / Kawasaki team said moments ago. ” Austin Forkner suffered an injury in practice today in Houston and unfortunately it will sideline him for the night.”

The way Austin was favoring his right arm as he walked off the track, we suspected it was a right arm, wrist, or shoulder injury, and we just got confirmation that it is a shoulder injury. I’m sure we will find out more after Austin sees a specialist next week, but we will not expect to see him until outdoors.
