During the 2021 Houston 3 Supercross 250SX east main event—round 3 of the Eastern Regional 250SX Championship—rookie Australian HRC pilot, Jett Lawrence, got a little overly aggressive with Michael Mosiman while battling for the 3rd spot on the podium and put the GasGas rider on the ground. Jett rode away to a his second-straight podium finish with a 3rd—after winning his first-ever main event in the last race—while Mosiman was able to remount and cross the line in 5th.

After the race, the AMA had a talk with Jett about the pass. “I already spoke to the AMA,” Jett said during the post-race press conference. “I got a warning for that, a little bit of a slap on the wrist to kind of wake me up a bit. It wasn’t my night and I had to make a bit of an aggressive move for third place and it ended up going a bit worse than I thought. I really didn’t think it would go that bad. It’s already done and I can’t really say I didn’t mean to do it because obviously as a professional athlete we know what we’re doing in the bike. It is what it is and hopefully that’s the last of those I need to do. Hopefully, I get my starts better and do what I did on Tuesday.”

No matter what you think about Jett’s pass, you have to be impressed with this kids skills and mental game at just seventeen years-old. He currently sits 3rd in the 250SX East title fight, just six points behind the Monster Energy / Star Racing / Yamaha duo of Christian Craig and Colt Nichols. The last thing Jett needs is points to be taken away by the AMA, but over the next couple of races he may need to worry more about payback from Mosiman.
