Australian rookie Jett Lawrence was having the race of his life tonight before it all went sideways. The 16-year-old got around his GEICO / Honda teammate Christian Craig early in the main event and checked out to a massive 11-second lead. With time winding down, though, the Australian went down and allowed Dyan Ferrandis to find his rear wheel. Then, on the last lap, Dylan made an aggressive pass before Jett rode his front wheel coming out of a rhythm section and went over the bars. The crash knocked the freshman out and we just heard also broke his collarbone.

This is a big blow for the youngster, but after a ride like the one tonight, you can be positive he will be back and ready to fight for his first win later in the season. A broken collarbone can be healed up in anywhere from 3-6 weeks depending on if it is surgically plated or not. We wish the likable kid a quick recovery and cannot wait to see the #83 back on the starting gate. You can see video of Jett’s crash, here.
